Kidney Biopsy
Kidney biopsy is done to find out the cause of kidney diseases. It is done under Ultrasonography guidance. Kidney biopsy is done under local Anesthesia. The procedure takes approximately 15-20 minutes. Patients are then observed for 5-6 hours before sending them home. It is very safe procedure.
Temporary Dialysis Catheter Insertion
Permanent Dialysis Catheter Insertion (Permacath)
Permacath insertion is advised for patient with end stage kidney diseases who are to be started on long term Hemodialysis who do not have a working AV fistula. the procedure is done under IITV/Ultrasonography guidance. It is done under local anesthesia. The procedure takes 30-45 minutes. Hemodialysis can be done immediately after Permacath insertion.
Peritoneal dialysis (PD) Catheter Insertion
PD catheter insertion is required for starting CAPD (Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis). It is done under local anesthesia. Patient is required to be admitted for 3 days for this procedure. CAPD is generally started after 2 weeks of PD catheter insertion.
AV Fistula Creation
AV fistula is required for long term Hemodialysis. It is made either near Wrist joint or near elbow joint of non-dominant arm. It is done under local Anesthesia. The procedure takes 1-2 hours. Patient is discharged on same day. Dialysis can be started from AV fistula after minimum of 30-45 days. Proper hand exercise needs to be done for AV fistula maturation before using it.
Kidney Transplantation
Kidney transplantation is offered to patient with end stage kidney disease as an alternative to dialysis. one kidney is harvested from healthy donor and placed inside the patient’s abdomen. kidney transplantation is possible between donors and patient who have same blood group and also between different blood groups. Kidney donors may be cadaveric (Brain dead) or living (“NEAR RELATIVES” or family members of the patient)
